About this product

Why is drinking matcha good for you?

Matcha tea is a powerful drink that supports both body and mind. Because matcha involves consuming the whole tea leaf in powder form, you receive a high dose of antioxidants (such as EGCG), which aid in detoxification, neutralize free radicals, and support your immune system. Matcha is also known to mildly boost metabolism.

Compared to coffee, matcha also contains caffeine, but thanks to the unique amino acid L-theanine, it provides a calmer, longer-lasting energy boost without spikes, crashes, or jitters. It promotes concentration, cognitive performance, and mental clarity, while also having a relaxing effect.

Matcha is not only good for your health, but also forms a soothing daily ritual – a moment of attention, stillness and balance in a busy day.

What is the difference between Original and Premium matcha?

At Cleen we offer two types of matcha, tailored to your preference and use.

Our Original Ceremonial Matcha is an affordable all-rounder. Its high quality makes it ideal for drinking neat, but it also works well in lattes, smoothies, or cooking.

Our Premium Ceremonial Matcha is of superior quality. This matcha is meant to be enjoyed neat, as in Japanese tradition.

So, if you're looking for matcha for everyday use , choose Original. Want ultimate quality and an authentic matcha experience? Then choose Ceremonial.

How do I prepare matcha?

1. Heat water to 70–80 °C
Let your boiled water cool down for a while, water that is too hot will make the matcha bitter.

2. Prepare your tools
Pour hot water into the chawan (bowl) and dampen the chasen (bamboo whisk) to soften the bristles. Then pour the water away.

3. Scoop and sieve the matcha
Use a chashaku (bamboo spoon) to scoop 1 gram of matcha into the bowl. Sift the powder to prevent lumps and ensure a smooth texture.

4. Add water
Pour 60–80 ml of hot water (70–80°C) over the powder. Adjust to taste (more water = lighter).

5. Whisk the matcha
Using the chasen, whisk in a medium or wide motion until a fine, creamy foam forms (about 15–30 seconds). Avoid circular motions.

6. Serve and enjoy immediately
Add more water or (frothed) milk as desired. Drink your matcha immediately for the best flavor, texture, and aroma.

How should I store my matcha?

Once you open the matcha, it should be refrigerated to preserve all its properties. It's very important to keep it sealed and away from strong odors. If you haven't opened your matcha tea yet, there's no need to refrigerate it, but store it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

Once opened, it can last up to 2-4 months, retaining its vibrant colour, aroma and flavour.
